Official Dargie Delight II thread

How much wood would a woodshop shop if a woodshop could shop wood?

Hmm, consulting my Big List of Things That Must Be True Because I Read It On The Internet, I do not find 'ash' as a disreputable wood for use in instruments. All kinds of other woods are there, including one that was used for most of my basses.......no mention of ash, though.

It appears that I must update my list!

...the answer is 42.

hm.... did I say sth like disreputable, Mr. Bonvine or Mr. Poppa??? guess no, I didn't. just wanted to express that me, myself and I are not ...say a big fan of Ash. that's it. nothing more and nothing less.

i never thought of mahogany as a superior wood... I used to own a Gibson RD Artist Bass That sounded like Mud... and not good Mud... Guess what it was made of? I own a couple Stingrays and Sterlings.. and i have no idea what they are made of.. Poplar/ Alder or Ash I'm sure and they sound great... I understand the Big Al is made of AL-der... Can't wait to get mine. I'm sure its going to sound amazing.

...wouldn't call it superior, though. it's just my personal favour. I just got another SR4 the other day. HH, rosewood and all that you need. But to me, it just simply doesn't feel and more important: doesn't sound right. Know what I mean?
Maybe, if I had gotten that new bass before I got the Ebony, I would have liked it as hell but as I now do have several EBMM to compare....hm... no, Ash is not on the top of my favo-list and will never be as I know how Mahogony sounds in a SR.

Come on, BP. Give him a mahogany body for his DD2...and throw in a STB bridge for good measure. Then he can put (one of only one worldwide) in his sig...and maybe stop crying.

OMG... does a simple question need to end like this??? just to let you know: I don't lock my basses in a showcase, but also play them as often as I can. So there is no need for me to increase my sig big a million basses. Though, I'm really happy to have them - and you just seem to be a bit jealous...?!?

Back to topic....

Just come over and have a try... You're invited!

Thanks...really.

I've played a 30th anni SR4, so I'm not denying that mahogany makes a difference.

Sorry I didn't put a :D after my "one of one" comment. It was not in response to your question, but to your :(:(:(.

...didn't really feel insulted or anything. but I'll always try to brighten my points of view up a bit 'cause English is not my mother-tongue :)

i tried the search function and didnt find anything, if i missed it, let me know. whats the story behind the Dargie Delight? How did it come about and how did the name get coined? I noticed theres a forum member/customer service rep named/nick named dargie, so im assuming he was involved in it. just curious about the origins.

Dargie is a homeless guy that cam to us in a work program and started at the bottom...he would never take a break....would sneak into engineering and learned our cad cam software like a savant....totally self taught......he had a penchant for green things since he never had any money....

do a better search or someone else help it was a challenge to answer to the knuckleheads that green guitar wont sell....

OK Dargie is Scott Ball my first son who is the brainchild for many of the great things that you have been seeing over the last few years.

I am very thankful for Scott's ideas! I own a few and am waiting on another now. Great team work in my opinion.

Hey Dargin or BP- any chance of getting a list of DD2 production numbers posted up in this thread similar to what was done with the DD1's? it would be very interesting to see the rarity of certain models and would be very much appreciated, TIA.

Great suggestion - I was just wondering about that myself. Would be cool to know how many others ordered a Bongo 5HHp!
