Swapped one of my PRSi for this beauty. A stylistic leap for me, im mostly a dad rocker / unemployed blues lawer - but im an enthusiastic if ham fingered wannabe shredder.
Took me a while to warm up to - Ebony / neck through / stainless ticks some major boxes for me, but the popsicle neck and modern voiced pickups not so much.
I have found that adding some smiley face eq post amp block in my Amplifire has added more character to the pickups, making them sound better for the low gain stuff i play. Shredding wise of course its the most articulate and detailed guitar i have played. I have researched replacing pickups on the Majesty, and it seems that doing it where the 4 pickup wires are soldered to the pcb is the best method - scary though.
It has insane sustain for a trem guitar - as good as the best hardtails. Guessing the neck through is responsible.
The trem is the best i have ever used. Im more about shimmer than dive bombs, and with 10-52's the trem feels just right. I will probably add a piston type trem stopper for more stability after big left hand bends.
Also "best ever" is the setup quality and playablity. The metal guy i got it from had the action at 1.2mm, and no buzzes - i raised it to about 1.8mm for my dad rock styles.
Wish the coil tap applied to the 1 and 3 positions - but i see that JP simply doesn't use single coils. The tapped 2 postition gives a nice variety of tone however.
This could just be a "sell all my other guitars apart from the strat and play this one for the rest of my life" - if i can get used to the skinny neck.
