Hope this isn't inappropriate Rob, just thought it might raise a smile or two. :)
(figured you probably don't see too much of him without the tubes.. )

Rob,

Mister Jeremy (aged 5) and I just had a long talk about what's going on with Tom. I wish you could have seen the look of concern on his face - my boy loves babies.

"He's a cool looking little man", he said.

Then he said, "HEY! He's got a GUITAR IN THERE!"

Rob,

If not for the yellow in his eyes, I would say he looks healthy!?
He seems to have gained more weight than I expect to see as well.
I know it's constantly a half full - half empty scenario, but I've got a feeling all will be fine in the end.

on ya Dizzy. yeah we havent seen him without tubes for ages, some days he has heaps of them, other days just one or two. Today he has 5 machines hooked up to him! The doctors had to get a live urine sample, so i had to sit there for 90 mins holding a container to his willy, waiting for it, it was a long wait!!!!!!

gotta have a guitar with me to jam on while i'm there all day, and what better one than the cool 07 LE AL! i actually get more practice done in hospital, because there's heaps of help i dont have to do so much work some of the time, i can take 30 mins off and just play for a bit.

.

yes the yellow in his eyes in the giveaway that something aint right. his weight goes up and down a lot, but generally is under 6 kilos, we need to get him up to 8 kilos for the transplant. he hasnt got back to his best weight of 6.1 kilos yet, so he is still behind, but better than two weeks ago when he was losing weight and down at 5.4 kilos.

Rob, why don't YOU try to get some food while you're there. :D But don't eat any of Tom's food!

BTW, what kind of pickguard is on that black AL? I've never seen that pattern.

yes yes yes everyone always tells me to eat more food, i'm just a skinny guy. i do watch what i eat though, more so as i get older. amazing what cutting out junk food and soft drink can do for your weight and generally well being.

The pickguard on the new AL looks like black pearloid, i think!

before you get some food...How about we arm wrestle...

Great seeing Tom doing better...These kids have a tremendous ability to handle way more than we can...

They sure do BP, i can't believe he copes so well with all the daily blood tests, changing of the IV line, changing of the dressing where his lung tube is ( the worst part of the day that one!). he hardly ever cries, at all, only when his dummy falls out of his mouth! All day he is getting woken up and poked and prodded, other babies in the room cry like mad all day at the slightest thing, Tom is so quiet and relaxed, the other parents ask me what my secret is! He sure is one tough cookie i reckon, dont have a clue where he gets it from, not from me!!!! I had to have my blood taken yesterday to see if i'm a liver donor match, that needle going in.....dont how Tom doesnt cry when he has it done twice a day!

Question- why is the AL such a great axe? seriously, it feels like nothing else, so unique, i really find it to be the best guitar ive ever played. The neck is the best shape, and feels just superb. people always tell me the body looks uncomfortable, but its surprisingly exactly the opposite! Fits your body just right.
