I haven't been able to read the forum for a couple of weeks and I'm just getting caught back up on everything I've missed - wow, this is an amazing gesture from BP, EBMM and the forumites.

Just wish I could have added my name to those on the guitar Rob, and hope things improve for the little guy real soon. Mrs Starsky is always asking me if there's any more progress, so you're in our thoughts.

I've only recently revisited this board because of my interest in buying another MM. After I sold my one and only MM, I didn't think to check back. Should have! I've noticed some of Rob's posts lately and he seems like a great guy. I even drooled over his picture gallery! But I can't seem to easily find what sort of problems his boy is having or how severe they are? That's a real shame. I have two young sons myself. My thoughts and prayers go out to Rob and his family for sure!! Double strength!

Rob, the discussion in the Dargie thread reminded me that I never posted this. Here's the pic of your Al while we all still had our grubby hands on it:

Not sure if this has been mentioned - or if I mentioned it before - but I am amazed at how this was kept "a secret"...

I do not recall anyone saying it was, nor being asked not to mention it on the forum, not to post pics, etc..

But somehow everyone knew not to say anything until it was ready to be announced/presented officially.

I think that says a lot about our little community right here! :)

Ok - I'm a dork... I'm sure I heard it but didn't retain it... :p

So, I'll say instead that it's very cool how everyone was able to keep the secret until it was ready to be announced/presented officially.

I think that STILL says a lot about our little community right here!

(and you're very welcome!)

Hello everyone, here's an update on Tom for those who are interested.

We have had a really tough time lately, poor little Tom has not been going so well. He is 6 months old now. The previous situation was that we were waiting for a new liver, most likely sometime next year, when Tom is old enough or big enough, preferably 8 kilos. We were going ok up until a few months ago, when Tom kept collecting fluid around his lung and it collapsed several times, and each time the doctors drained the fluid and Tom could breathe on his own again. However each time this happened it severely worsened his condition, and we met with the transplant surgeons 3 weeks ago who told us that this situation cant keep happening, and a transplant would have to be rushed through as soon as possible, regardless of Tom's weight. Good news we figured. Over the past 2 weeks Tom has been most unwell, literally screaming all day until blood comes out his mouth, obviously something was wrong. Doctors couldnt find anything wrong, so we just tried our best to settle him, i even played his some songs on my cool black sparkle AL! But i knew something was not right. Yesterday afternoon he was resting when all of a sudden his heart rate started going up and his breathing was dropping rapidly, and parts of his body were going blue, fast. The emergency medical team from the Intensive Care Unit were alerted, alarms were going off like crazy. They rushed him down to ICU. They couldnt find any fluid around his lungs to drain, so that wasnt the cause of his distress. At this stage he is hooked up to a ventillator, he cant breathe on his own at all, not even 1%. His whole body is all puffed up, the fluid balance went all wrong and he looks very weird! Good news is, while he is in ICU he goes to very top of the transplant waiting list, and an Australia wide alert has begun, previously it was only statewide. He has all sorts of lines hooked up to him, and he is knocked out as well, on morhpine, he had so many tests today that they figured it was best to keep him asleep. The latest is that there is no infection anywhere in his body, and no answer has been found for his current state, only solution is a transplant, and i think he needs it pretty soon to survive. I had been spending every day at his side, but at the moment i'm at home as we cant stay with him in ICU, which is sad for us. Even though he's out of it its still nice to be there supporting him. So it seems like we are the business end of things one way or another, i dont know how long he can go on without a transplant, his stomach is massive, way out of proportion, and he is yellow like Bart Simpson. Pretty harsh stuff , our life sucks right now. the next few days could be very telling indeed. It all seems to be going very quickly. Here's some pics from 2 weeks ago.

Jees, can't imagine what you're going through Rob. He's obviously a tough little fellar...keeping everything crossed that they can find him a new liver.
Best wishes Rob.

Man, you keep bringing tears to my eyes, Rob... Still hoping for the best and sending positive thoughts...

Little kids shouldn't have to be going through all this stuff...

Its just not fair that someone so little has to go through so much crap, he is one brave little guy. every day he has so many blood tests, painful IV changes, sometimes it seems he is just in pain all day and we cant do anything about it. We just try and get through each day at a time, and not get too far ahead of ourselves, the days all kind of just roll together.
