Totally off topic, but I know you guys know alot despite your "toadying". My band is pretty new so we're still learning about this stuff.

I have a Peavey XR684 150W at 8 ohm (200W at 4 ohm) powered mixer with two Peavey XLS2 8 ohm (rated 300W) 12 inch/horn cabs. Our vocalist is the only thing going through it right now, but it seems unhappy competing with the instrument amps when we play out.

Do you think I'll get more bang for the buck getting two extra cabinets to run it at 4 ohms or should I sell this setup and get a more powerful amp and higher rated cabs? I'm sort of on a budget after I got my Sterling and my Markbass rig

I would say replace it. You really need a 500w minimum PA rig. In fact, 1kw should give you plenty and some to spare for bigger gigs. My band uses Peavey UL15's and a 500w a side Gigrack. Plenty of power and headroom.
