House of the Rising Sun
Cliffs of Dover
NIB - Sabbath version
Money
Smoke on the Water
Hot for Teacher (Even though I am not a fan of EVH....still killer beginning)

This could be endless for me....so I will stop now.

Since I was just listening last night

Over the Hills and Far Away

And just to expand the category to great intro's that are probably better than the actual song:

The Song Remains the Same

Sweet Jane...Lou Reed live a long time ago
I love that one. Or at least a Lou Reed Intro I have a recording of if you are referring to a particular concert.

For me:

More than a Feeling
Till It's over - Billy Squier (from Enough is Enough)
Crazy over you? - Heart, one of their big songs has a beautiful intro. I think that's the one.
Rock Bottom - Kiss
The Lucky One - Loverboy
The Kid is Hot tonight - Loverboy
Head Games - Foreigner

...going the other way, the coolest jam out (?) was Changing Times by Nazareth. Cool cool cool.

Welcome to the forum, Enforcer!

Foreigner's got some good hits -- I love the intro for Jukebox Hero, but I think someone beat me to the punch on that one. That intro literally gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

Enforcer, you dolt! :)

All good picks. I also have to add:

Darkness and Signal to Noise - Peter Gabriel
Fith of Firth and The Knife - Genesis

(Pattern? I don't think so)

Aqualung - Jethro Tull

and my favorite...

The Flinstones Theme Song. You cannot deny that when you hear that Yabba Dabba Doo, you know exactly what is coming next! A half hour of Hanna Barabara Madness!

Boys Of Summer- Don Henley.

If there was ever a song you can recognise from just the first note, its that one.

How about "sister christian"...especially the scene in Boogie Nights where Alfred Molina is totally jamming out to it, right before things get violent.
