John left an update on his forum page, this is a excerpt from that update:

This fall I will also take part in two G3 tours: One in South America and the other in Australia. My first time down under! Both should be a lot of fun as always. Finally, the Ernie Ball crew and I have been finallizing the details on the next incarnation of the John Petrucci Music Man signature guitar and hope to announce its debut very soon.

JP is always seaching exploring and discovering. This is the dame news that has been going on for over a year. I think we have made about twenty prototypes and none of them have come close to making the cut...except for the 20th style which was discovered while he had to wait for me to finish up some calls in my office and started playing it.

You will be the first to see the real deal

A-ha! So... JP is responsible for the backlog increase from 4.5 months to 6 months!
:D :D

Can't wait to buy the next version of his ongoing experimentation!

I'm saving my pennies and hoping it's the 20th silo maple topped version w/ piezo I've seen pictures of him playing.

fingers crossed.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but I said very early on when I joined this board that the JP was flawless and 99% perfect, the only improvement I would've made if I were the designer is to have stains and clearcoats as opposed to paint. If this is the deal - it will offically make the JP model perfect.

I'm psyched.

How 'bout now? :)

Seriously though, from JP's comment, it sounds like it's a done deal and you seem to be playing it down a bit. Hmmm.

Hehe...that brings to mind a picture of two carts full of boxes of body prototypes for another past artist. I can't wait to see the finished product! :D
