Purty. But as an owner of a 2005 JP7, i can tell you that those of you who are waiting are missing out on playing a fantastic guitar TODAY. While i'm looking forward to seeing how the JP model is going to evolve, i have absolutely ZERO regrets about owning a current-generation JP7 (and not even an updated model with the DSonic-7). It's just an incredible guitar.

Quoted for truth. If you're really looking for a new guitar with these specs (thin neck, low action, high output DiMarzios, piezo bridge etc.), you won't regret getting a JP model right now instead of waiting 'til... who knows?

The only reason I'm able to wait for the fancy-shmancy JP is because I've already got a current-generation JP here to play! And that's also the reason why I want another! :)

I like the current models a bunch... I'm really hopeful that if it's changed that dramatically, that it's like the Morse 2K thing and the regular model is still available. I only have the 7 string now, and being in college, it'll be a while before I can get my Ibanez JPM augmented with a MM one. I hope I don't have to go searching ebay in a few years for what is already a killer guitar. But, I'm a very small fish in a very big pond so, I'm sure I'll learn to deal with whatever happens. lol. I'm sure it will be cool anyway.

I certainly don't have anything against the current JP models. I just want this special one to add to my miniscule collection of one Ball. :D

Then, I can get on with my other EBMM targets: Y2D, Luke, ASS, Silo, Silo Special, etc., etc., etc. :D

I hope they don't do it so that the 20th anniv SiLO rules. With less than 400 being made they are gonna get rare pretty quick.

Thanks NorM! The fact that you're against the 20th-style Petrucci just makes it that much more likely that BP will produce it. :D

P.S. Dargin said your 20th will ship in "February". :p

While I would love to see the JP/20th hybrid prototype produced (and I'd love to get my hands on one), I'd like it to be announced as a production instrument well after the hype for the 20th Anniversary has died down...

Look at all the new stuff that came out in the past year and a half or so... Rosewood Axis guitars, y2ds all over the place, then the 20th Anniversary Silhouette was introduced, the 30th Anniversary StingRay was introduced, the '06 Limited Edition Black/Gold was introduced, the EB wah made it's debut at Summer NAMM, and the Dargie Delight has people sucking their thumbs while taking a break from biting pillows. There was so much great stuff offered, and so many people jumped at buying everything they could, that I think a little bit of "cool-down" time might be in order for everyone's visa/master.

I hope the hybrid hits production in a year or two, and I hope that the 42 people who emailed me the other day about "The New JP model" can all get one. Screw that, as long as I can get my hands on one I'll be happy :D

Yeah...a ton of stuff. It's just incredible.

I understand the cool down sentiment that some of you mentioned, but some of us sat out for this year's dances... hoping for certain ideas to see the light of day.

If that maple-top Petrucci is announced tomorrow, I've got my ca$h in hand and I'm running down to my local dealer!

And someday when things DO slow down, I'll order that blue pearl AL. :)

Oh I am quite aware of both of those things. One of my favorite jokes was that I would be getting a 21st anniversary SiLO. So in the mean time I'll just keep my mouth shut and enjoy the ride.
As pretty as these guitars are and as good as BP says they sound I know it will be tough to not use this proven formula for a production model.

I agree with NorM. Much as I love the JP, I also own a 20th and would be disappointed if EBMM chose to issue the JP that way. Part of the attraction of the 20th is that it is a limited production instrument and I think it wuld violate the spirit of the whole thing if, next year, a similar looking JP popped out of the woodwork.

I'm a bit confused by the 'don't do it' comments.

Surely if the R & D work that has gone into the 20th's construction has produced a step forward in guitar design and tone, then it would be rather odd to lock it away in a cupboard just to keep the 20th Silo's 'more special?'

Many, many people love the design of the JP model. I think the 'Sitrucci's' look fantastic. The caramel burst and maple top is very, very attractive. Everyone who has heard them in action has complimented the tone.

These seem like pretty compelling reasons to make this guitar to me?

Pete it sure hasnt hurt you.... we are going to keep on keepin on and if Jp finds a new guitar to play I cannot ask him to hold off for a year...

You're right, but just wait until next year :D
Keep on keepin on BP... I love all the new stuff (even if it puts a dent in my 'cuda fund), and if you do introduce a new JP like the hybrid, I'm gonna place an enormous opening order like I've told my man Steve.

We are now at the pinnacle of entitlement!

When we do an anniversary model we attempt to pay tribute to the past and at the same time use the anniversary to introduce where we are going. We chose to introduce the mahog tone block in the twentieth as an example of where we are going and have never represented that it would be exlusive.

Using your guys logic (?) our future anniversary models would not embrace any future design/finishes and just be a special decal.

Plese understand that we hurt ourselves by offering you guys so much product. If we had just done the 20th we would have sold a bucketload more. So by us doing what you guys dont want me to do only made your guitar more collectable.

You guys really think that we should spend YEARS prototyping alternative materials, renewable materials, 100 different wood combinations and then limit is to 400? If I divided the R&D costs to come up with this wonderful combination of tone woods, these guitars would have been unaffordable.

Remember it isnt the Franklin Mint....it's a guitar.
