Frankiman, you will still have that sound. It's generated using the innermost coils of each humbucker in parallel with each other. Instead of being the middle position on this guitar it will be the position in between the middle and the neck.

as a few have asked/mentioned. Will there be a 7 string model? I remember being slightly disappointed when the Koa wasnt offered in a 7 string.
I'm thinking that a Cherryburst BFR or another Koa BFR may very well be in my future.

the Koa JP BFR is possibly the best looking guitar ever

Henry, I'm a huge fan of the JP but I've gotta disagree and say that the best looking Koa is the LUKE! Those rounded body edges really work with the burst on that guitar, mmmmmmm....
I love the look of this guitar. I think it's going to be great. The chambers really do amazing things to round out the tones. I heard Luke rip up a 25th on the promotional tour, and it was SICK. Notes leapt out of that guitar like gazelles on Red Bull.
One option that I'd love to see is the traditional EBMM neck finish (caranuba wax/gunstock oil). I'm sure that JP likes the gloss finish, which is why it was applied here (duh). However, for me, the traditional finish is one of the great things that sets EBMM guitars apart and above the rest. One thing I sure don't miss on my old guitars were lacquer-finished necks. They get so draggy when you start to sweat. I played my Axis for three hours with no set breaks on New Years Eve and the neck was fast as lightning all night long.
How different is the polyester finish from lacquer?
Have you ever played a BFR by any chance? I thought the same thing about painted necks, because the guitars I used to play were all ESP's and Jackson USA's with painted necks. The BFR necks even though painted, don't get sticky or anything. Its amazing.

How can there be so much controversy when nobody has heard it plugged in? Might well be the best sounding guitar EBMM has ever made!
Congrats EBMM, looks killer, and can't wait to hear it.
