The only thing I'm wondering now is if it will end up staying, kinda like the SMY2D, or if it's going to be a limited run...

A while back BP said that this would be a new guitar and a new addition to the JP series of guitars so I'm wondering if this config (color, black hardware) will only be offered this year and then next year it becomes available in the usual colors and the regular chrome equipment... kinda like the 25th/Reflex deal. Whatever happens, it will be mine... oh yes, it will be mine.

Party on, Wayne! Whatever it is, I'll be getting one, two if offered in 7 string.

Crimson... I love your fire but you kind of miss the point (again) How can you tell us what JP wants....maybe you know because of hiland? hahaha

We are making tools for artists and we made this for him....several protos to get here. I didnt post sneak peaks because of guys like you who feel they have a right and are opressed if we dont seek input.

Guess what. we made JP happy. We win. If the public buys it then great double win.

For the record the biggest uproar in the history was the introduction of the BFR......people were so incensed and its now our biggest seller...this may or not repeat but Im very happy to be there for John in his progression of guitars.

Here is the deal....you made your point I wont lock the thread but things might get tough for you. Just calm down and go to the next thread or forum.

It would be cool if JP popped in and told us what he was after with this guitar, how he likes it, what he thinks it gives him, or anything else he might have to say about. I'd love the hear or see what he thinks. I think it's sweet. Love the concept.

But...he's a busy guy. So, if he pops in, great. If not, well...I'll catch him on tour or YouTube or something. :)

Thanks BP for the sneak preview and also thanks Dargin for all the extra info you gave us. The bigger frets peek my interest, I like the color, if i understand correctly the neck is painted? not liking that, and the 5 way selecter and new body shape is fine with me. I will check one out once it becomes available.

Wow this looks insane!

Still you should put the scoop back in, it's really comfortable! Please JP!

I think it's cool that JP continues to innovate on his Sig model. The core guitar is the same as when he joined EBMM, but he continues to experiment, which gives us more options to play with. It's also a testament (from the outside looking in) to his enjoyment of working with Sterling and place in the EBMM family.

Piezo is not an option I don't think... it's standard from what I can tell. This looks like a modified BFR, rather than a modified JP6.

Other random things that have struck me since seeing this. lol

With the way JP holds his guitar, the symmetrical body makes a lot of sense. For those who don't wear it that high, the asymmetrical might make more sense. When BP said slightly bigger body, I immediately figured it would have a lot to do with the forearm area. It will thus be interesting to see what guitar JP moves forward with as his main ax.

The five way is less attractive to me for stage use, but way more attractive to me for studio use. I suspect this guitar will gain a reputation as a very studio friendly guitar.

The upper horn seems like a cosmetic preference. I think JP was just after a more aggressive look here.

The larger frets... that is interesting. I've always thought that it seemed my Ibby JPMs had bigger frets than any of my MM JPs have had. I like the MMs better in this respect, but most shredders like bigger frets. This also made me wonder if the ebony fretboard is something JP likes the tone of, but maybe it feels a little slick, so he wanted taller frets? Probably not, but a crazy thought anyway. lol I've heard that scalloped frets are easier to play from some folks, and harder to play from others. I'm guessing the taller frets on this guitar is having something to do with that kind of touch. I know that Mark Wood's violins have taller frets so as to more closely simulate the effect of having no frets for the player.

Chambers... I'd think that this will reduce the midrange, but they're in the alder so maybe it will reduce the bass instead? I would guess the number of chambers was specifically tuned in some manner or another.

I'm most surprised by the 5 way selector because JP has in recent years used the middle position even less and less (even had that box made to make the bridge position sound more single coily so he didn't have to move the switch during a sound change.) I'd be curious to know what inspired his desire to have more options here.

What is this box of which you speak? Whatever it is, I don't think it's working as I have heard some horrible bridge pickup clean stuff from him these past few years. I wondered why he'd started to do that.

Thanks for the sneak peek. Love it or not, it was really nice to get a sneak peek a week and a half before NAMM. Sneek peek a week...like that rhyme? haha

So if this is the JPX, do you guys suspect that any new colors of the regular BFR will be presented at NAMM?

I never thought it worked very well either, but it's something Mark Snyder built for him. There is an interview out there somewhere.

BP!!!......my brotha from another motha! It's all good buddy, but I think you might actually be misinterpeting what I've said, because with all respect, I don't think I did miss the point. (or ever before ;-)

If you examine my initial post, you'll find that I totally understand where you are coming from. I simply said that in my eyes (and yes, I know....who am I? No one in particular)....I just simply thought that for a 10th anniversary, it just kinda fell short of what I thought it should be and that I didn't really care for it. It's a discussion board, I'm going to discuss positives/negatives of any subject matter that comes along....even if it goes against the grain of what many others seem to think. You know how boring this world would be if everyone agreed on everything....I'd hate the thought, of such a world with brain-washed zombies.

I even stated, that without question....that it was OBVIOUSLY what JP wanted, and this is what is most important. So, if JP is happy....that is ALL that really matters.

And naturally, ....I am well aware that if this is what JP wanted...then that's what he got, because it is his guitar. I'm just not impressed with it for my taste.

When I expressed my opinion on it, it wasn't with the thought that "oh man, maybe I can convince them to change it..." But, just one consumer's thought on a particular product. One thing you won't hear me say, is anything negative about the quality of your products, because you guys obviously make these products with excellent craftmanship in mind.

As far as you BFR's go....when they came out, I said to myself "excellent move! ...wow! amazing intruments with good R&D in mind!" Until you said that in your post, I couldn't have imagined ANYONE that would've been against that.....so that really shocks me to know that. I thought it was a WIN,WIN from day one.

Anyhow,....I am calm as can be. I just figured that since you released the pics and info about the JPX, that people would take the opportunity to post their reactions/opinions....sense this is a discussion board where people are free to do just that. I figured if that wasn't the case, that you would've post the pics and info then locked it down. In the end, I know that opinions are like a$$holes, so I didn't expect to be drawn down on mine so much. Why is my opinion more important than anyone else's here? It's not. Most of the people seemed to love it, despite of what I think about it....as I said in my initial post, more power to them. Hell, it won't hurt my feelings at all if the JPX is a hit. I just stated that it wasn't for me, and that I won't be adding it to my 'gas-list' in the future....that's all. So, PEACE!!! I'm not at war with you! :)

Man is John a lucky guy or what? This is a very nice guitar. No doubt about it. Thanks BP for the preview.

Some of the posts here are very disappointing and unwarranted.
