BigBallz said:OK....we opened for them twice if memory serves me well....at that time..we were not concerened about strings and such...just a fledgling band...excited as hell to open for them...was very cool...Huey was a great guy as was the whole band, Mario, the bass player, who played at that time with a thumb pick....he was as unique as his brother....John, (RIP)
We played at Uncle Charlies, where they IMO got their start...2 mtv vidios were filmed there for them..

Hey Mr Light,
Tnx 4 scooping some dirt on TE amps ...
If I can get a sound anywhere close to my 'vintage' TE 'separates' system
with a lighterweight 'NewGeneration' 15" KountryKombo,
I can probably have some *real* fun and
Win a few 'konvertz' to the EBMM BassKamp from the 'doghouse'Klub
in the BlueGrass fields here at home
A lot of reasons why the 'oldtimerz' don't like 'electric' gear is because
nobody has ever sho'd them anything but 'hardstuff',
and they'z mo' inta 'Gentle' stuff ...
But onceya get'me 'soffend' and 'loosend' a bit,
*Man* kan sum of deez ol'Katz
*Burn DownDa Barn*
~
We'll have SumFun !!!

Sorry - didn't mean 2 konfuse ...
What I'm saying to Mr Light is that oldtime country & bluegrass pickers are shy about electric bass sounds with otherwise all acoustic instruments and soft harmony vocals ...
I need a good, phat and smooth sounding amp to match my SR5 Piezo
My Big TE rig is not portable enough, and my SWR Workinman 12 doesn't have quite the smoothness and phatness mid-neck on the B string where I get really good 'upright' type tones
If I can find the right amp to match my SR5, I can probably help
sell a few more Music Man basses to upright players,
or, I can get gigs where 'uprights' don't like to go
It's about the *music* ...
and I'd still like to hear more of your experiences !!!

I speak up when I shouldn't and don't when I should.
One of those things I've gotten gun shy over the years about.
