Finally on line, sorry I guess it's officially not Chuck b'day any more, but anyway I did this yesterday: Gave away a pack of slinkies to a kid who plays a borrowed bass. He said to tell Chuck "thanks".

Ok, so I did a good deed yesterday in honor of Chuck. We have a huge homeless population here in Austin and you get to know a lot of them that are on the streets daily. So I took two of the guys I've seen standing at the day labor spot to lunch yesterday. Plus I wore my "Free Hugs" button and gave out quite a few.

Sorry that I did not read this thread until today, but as I am still a "newbie" here because I have many flaws to overcome. What did I do that was positive? 1. I did not punch out my dentist for screwing up my unplanned Thursday root canal & temporary crown...I am deferring that until Monday. 2. My wife is in China for the next 3 weeks, so I took good care of the dogs and her cats.
Now that you are 50 it is time to remake your image--I suggest that you change your username to "Psycho Carl" as it suggests a subtler more mature level of mental defect. I will be 60 in '08 & maybe I will change my user name to "bovineparasite" to reflect that I have finally matured to a "Junior member" here.
P.s., hitting 50 is no biggie, but 51 is a killer.

im a little late to the party, but i put in a donation for you to the watoto project in northern uganda who are raising orphans in amazing housing, and who run a babies home for birth to 2 year olds whos parents have been victims of aids. there is also a portion being used to start addressing the rehabilitation of child soldiers.

I've personally met some of these children (we have had the Watoto choir in studio twice and raised $5000 for them). Their parents had died of AIDs and yet you would never have known, based on the smiles of these kids.

Only a small deed from me (unfortunately latter half of my week was thrown into chaos by some news from my parents... anyway), but on Friday I stayed late to help my boss put a new campaign live for a client so she didn't have to stay super-late on her own 
Trev also did his good deed - he has signed up to do some volunteer work on the days/afternoons when he isn't working - for places such as a kidney foundation and/or wildlife charities.

Small deed here as well. Took the family for a walk at a local riverside park where there were a bunch of groups having picnics and bbq. While Aussie Jay was trying to kill himself on playground apparatus I picked up enough rubbish to fill 3 bins, left by thoughtless morons who finished their picnics without cleaning up after themselves.

I rewound a friends Guitar pick up who is having a few money hassles at the moment for free ( I still haven't told him I am not charging him) and then donated what I would of got for the job + more to RSPCA.
Also sorry ashiin that we didn't hook up in HK I am hoping to go back in the next few months so I will buy you a drink then.

Small deed from Friday, first chance to report now: Took some time to visit the two little old ladies that live next to me (for whom 50 is WAY YOUNG) and stayed and talked and drank tea as long as I could. They're way closer to 100 than 50, and don't get as many visitors as they should. Happy Bday Chuck!

On Friday I made it a point to remind my wife and each of my two sons (individually) how much they are loved and appreciated and how lucky I am to have them in my life. I do make it a semi-regular habit to do this as I believe we can never do it enough.
Their reaction is usually puzzlement, especially my older 12-year-old... "Uh, OK Dad... And why are you telling me this now?"
This time my response was "Because it's Chuck's Birthday!" This of course, did nothing to quell their puzzled looks...
My other activity involved reaching out to a very old friend (25+ years) with whom I had stopped speaking with last summer. This is not someone I simply "knew" for that time; this is someone who was amongst my closest friends for that time. Too long a story to explain the reason for the lost contact - suffice to say I had written him off.
I learned early last week from a mutual friend that he had some major legal problems and has been going through quite a personal ordeal. After thinking about it for a day or two, I gave him a call and met him for lunch on Thursday. I reminded him we're family, we put the nonsense behind us and I pledged to be here for him, whatever the need.
Life is just better that way...
