Sterling Love?

I've had a sterling for years that I purchased from a friend, who gutted it and put and emg P replacement pup in it. I just recently grabbed all new stock electronics for it and put them in. Wow.....now I'm hooked.

Sterlings still rule, best EBMM I've tried, the only one left for me to give a go are single H Bongos, Als & Reflexes H & HH.

Everything else, Sterling still tops

First I liked the Sterlings more than the Ray´s. More aggresive sound - but the neck was too "slim"... now I have my Stingray 4 and more than happy.

If there would be a Stingray with a Sterling Electronik and Pickup...nice :D

SR5's from '90-'00's have ceramic PUs like a sterling. Don't know about other electronics. But I'd like to know about it.
I have no opportunity to hear another rays and sterlings live exept my '95 SR5. Have only youtube videos. From that I'd say that old SR5 is like a borderline bass between them.

Gotta new Classic Sterling inbound. Natural with flame neck. Gonna try to bond with this one. Pics will come.

Had one before, but sold it in a fit of insanity. I hope to keep this one a while. I know I'm gonna like the 2-band and mutes, which the other didn't have. I'm really turning into an old school bass player as I get older.

EXTENSIVELY testing my Sterling HH vs the Bongo

In terms of versatility on the fly for a cover band, its Sterling by a landslide

Here is my favorite. 2008 NAMM Sterling 5 HH. Nice figuring on the fretboard. This one goes to every gig.

Picked up a sterling today

Hi All,

I Picked up a sterling today and as you can see by the picture the previous owner tried to clean the neck and made it look kinda white. Any thoughts on what i can put on the neck to make it look better?

thank you

It's lovely... leave it as is :)

I tried a new sterling by MM sub 5 at guitar center yesterday. The back of the neck was incredibly rough and worse case of fret sprout ever. The salesman told me I could take a dollar bill and smooth up the back of the neck. When I told him he was crazy he asked if I could understand english. Where does GC find people like that. I would like to find an inexpensive MM bass but not one I would have to spend hours on to make it playable.

I tried that. A dollar bill does nothing.
OTOH a $50 bill works small miracles.

What sorta miracles ? You might well
arsk. Suffice it to say, they are small.
