The Ibanez Forum: IBANEZ RG 8 STRING @ NAMM ’07.
They're talking about it on the JP forums. I gotta say, I'm not sure I get why the extra string. I can't see that it's an extra one on the top because, as far as I know an 0.8 is the thinnest string you can get, and I would have thought the tension would have been too much to tune it to high A two octaves above middle C.
So it must be on the bottom. So is it a low G? Or F#? But why? Thats jsut stepping into baritone territory even further so what's the point? I guess there would be some interesting chordal applications, but I thought the whole point of the low B on a 7 string was to match a 5 or 6 string bass tonally.
What do you guys think? Is this something EBMM has ever thought about?
