Forget flats. We should all buy EB rounds and change them every 3 months so BP can add another Ferrari to his collection
Can't beat the feel of those slinkys!Dr Stankface said:I do love my EB flats but my favorite strings still are Super Slinkys.![]()

Aragorn35016 said:Got my flats today! I have to say that they were pretty close to what I was hoping they would be. I thought I was gonna sacrifice alot of sustain for the added bump in the low end, but to my suprise didn't seem to lose any. And I love the fact that there is no string noise when sliding up or down the string! The only scare I ran in to was my d strings windings unraveled and slipped on the tuner when I installed it. I find this funny because it was the only string that I didnt cut. I ended up having to cut it a little to get past the bad spot and it happened again! So I took the very end of the string and made a tiny loop in it before I rewound it on the post and it looks like its going to work ok. All in all Im extremely pleased with the strings!! Looks like im gonna be a flats player for awhile!

Edit: When you guys first install your flats, do they have this black powder like substance on them? After I installed mine, my hands were completely black. I seem to have gotten most of it off the strings though with a dry cloth.

tadawson said:No dirt at all on mine, at least not that I noticed. I did have pretty much that same problem with my G string, but I had cut it. The replacement went on uncut with no problems. Aragorn35016 said:Its cool its probably my own fault. Besides they probably wouldnt be able to tell anything since I had to recut it and rig it to make it work. However I wonder If there is a place you can buy Flats in singles just in case this one does decide to let go?

If the stuff bothers you switch to "ERNIE BALL FLATWOUNDS", like I did. How's that for a plug?

If I were playing guitar for a living or even just a one-off performance, I'd change more often. Old strings lose their tuning stability.SteveB said:Don't worry Poppa, some of us guitards change strings weekly! We'll keep you supplied with Ketel One and meats for your outdoor kitchen!
I got into that habit years ago. A good friend of mine who is probably one of the best guitarists I've ever heard.. he used to buy Super Slinky strings by the box and change them every couple of days. I had never heard of anyone buying strings in such quantities before, most guys I knew changed strings when one or more of 'em broke. Seeing such a great player put such emphasis on changing strings got me thinking.
