I think perhaps mass producing a SR shape with binding, as well ass the 3 single pickup combination would suit the EB line. Perhaps try and steal some of Rickenbackers fans. Who the hell wants to wait 6-8 months for their bass to be built???? lol

The traditional look is fine, but we have that already. Stingrays, and sterlings to an extent...These are models I suspect will be offered for a long time to come.

But whats the point in bringing out new basses that look like the old ones? The new electronics package should go in a totally new bass (like the bongo). I think I remember Sterling saying about how EBMM is about looking into new designs, not reissuing old ones (and lets face it, we don't EBMM to become another fender, squeezing out reissues whenever possible)

Personally, and when I say that I mean 'speaking for the majority' I think the new design is fantastic. And we all know it will sound incredible, play amazingly...and it doesn't look as 'controvertial' as the bongo so it may get loved by more people.

Are you guys reading the thread before you post?

The "new design" is the Albert Lee guitar body shape--it's been around for years. It's a one off for BP. The design for the actual 25th Anniversary bass hasn't been revealed yet.

Very cool concept and I love the tupperware party idea. I think this will be a huge hit. Thanks for keeping us posted BP. I look forward to future updates.

Awesome job!

The one thing that always draws me to EB products is the traditional look,

Ummmmmm.....

Bongo?

BP has said explicitly that he's trying to get the industry out of the 1950s.

The fact that he can do it without losing sight of tradition, or descending into flavor-of-the-moment trendiness that doesn't age well (remember Dean? and Hamer? and BC Rich?) is frakkin' awesome IMHO.

5 string SSS

Real men play 4 bangers.

I'm not a real man, though. At this point I'd get all screwed up looking for the low B string and would wind up dropping my turkey leg.

It'd get all dirty and covered with sand.

I hate dirty turkey legs.

So please make a 5 string version, m'kay? Please?

(Now, how can you argue with logic like that?)

A traditional appearance can be improved upon, by issuing a bass with options only available on limited production models. I only offered my opinion because I've enjoyed the companies offerings. I know what you mean about not wanting to be another Fender-(new pickguards and tuners constituting a "New" model...lol)

The one thing to keep in mind is that if a design becomes to radical, it could wind up leading to poor sales.

.....excuse my ignorance....does Albert Lee play bass?

Then why use his signature model -body for a new bass? That's a legit question...not a slam in any way.

Dont think the albert lee model is going to be the bass by the sounds of it.

(Could be very wrong though!!)

Let's clear something up for those who haven't been reading for comprehension.

The bass you see BP playing is built on an Albert Lee body. That is a one-off.

The 25th, whatever else it may be, will not be an Albert Lee body.

I repeat: the 25th Anniversary will NOT be built around an Albert Lee body!

So the 25th is going to be built on an Albert Lee body then?

Don't make me use this.
