I thought it was said that you offered him one many times but he declined?
Oh well. I'm not really surprised.

Is this true? He declilned...................Poppa, can you clear this up if it's ok to talk about it? Why was Vinnie not given a sig guitar or why did he turn it down?

Nice guy, I wish him success with his new endorsement but since it's not a EBMM.........oh well.

I'm not sad..usually when something leaves, something else will come along. Vinnie is a great player and musician, but to get your own signature guitar...well,you would have to be such an inspire to others and really be something different..This is my opinion!.

ok karlsson i know what you mean, but i think a lot of people here would prefer a vinnie-signature than a benji..........
;)

but big poppa and ernie ball definately know what they are doing! :)

First off to answer what I think that Dizzy was asking because he dredged up Benji. We have beat that to death but I can tell you that if VInnie had sold 8 million records like Benji we would have had a sig model. A signature model was never offered and it was an uncomfortable situation that VInnie accepted. I guess it caught up with him.

Signature anything usually is a way to lock the artist in sometimes sucessfully and sometimes not when you get the Joe Walsh's and Ritchie Sambora;'s that endorse a lot of stuff. IT is also a great way of stroking the players ego.THe problem is at retail. Unless the artist can actually sell product the dealer doesnt have a hook for it. Another consideration is if the artist and company can collectively move the gutiar forwardforward like the JP BFR.

One of the other categories that we use is an artist that supports the brand and existing models. That is the best one because they add credibility to a guitar that many people play.

THere is no question that our primary artists are John Petrucci, Steve Lukather, ALbert Lee and Steve Morse. I think that Vinnie really became uncomfortable not being in the above group with us.

We feel that John Petrucci and Steve Morse and Luke's guitars are three of the best selling signature models in the business. THe ALbert Lee is gaining momentum but it has been a slow seller since its introduction in 1993. In the above four players cases they tour and record constantly. In Albert's case he is the greatest living country guitarist and is an icon. WHen players like Jeff Beck mention his favorite player it starts with Albert.

Please understand that I think that Vinnie Moore is a monster guitarist. It is a chicken vs. the egg thing........ does the artist create the momentum or the company. Maybe both is the truth.

None of this is meant as disrespectful to Vinnie Moore. We picked him up when things weren't good for him and we had a great relationship through a long period of time where there wasn't many tours or CD's. We are really happy for his family now that the UFO thing is happening. The next thing would be for UFO to get big in the USA.

Breaking up is hard to do. I have no issues with Vinnie and enjoyed his contributions to our growth and hope he appreciates the clinic tours and support we have given him. I also sincerely wish nothing but the greatest success with his new deal.

Guys you really need to accept this and continue to follow Vinnie and to hang in there with us. I cant speak for Vinnie but I dont think that either one of us wishes anything but the best for each other and there are no sides to take here. Vinnie is doing what he thinks is the best for his career and family and I am doing the same.

It's business.

Vinnie is a great guy and, of course, player. I've had the pleasure of doing business with him on a couple of things and he is 100% honest and great to deal with. I know this probably wasn't an easy decision for him because he likes EB/MM and was always very positive about his relationship with them. But in life, we all switch jobs/employers/business ventures etc. to hopefully make improvements. All the best to Vinman and his next adventures! :)

I absolutely undersand both sides of the coin on this one... Still, it is sad to see a player that I, personally, associated so strongly with EBMM going elsewhere for instruments. I am very happy for Vinnie that his professional life is going well and very happy that the split appearantly, went amicably.

Cheers

Sorry Sterling, my intention wasn't to 'dredge' anything (unwanted) up, but thanks, you've answered my question.

I'll do a search of the beat-to-death threads, as I haven't come across them before. (Yes, I've seen a little random Benji bashing, but nothing dedicated to it)

:)

I must say we are extremely lucky as a company to have a great family of Musicians and Music Man endorsee's on our hands!! I don't think its any accident that the Music Man line has an All Star roster of monster players that make up our Signature lines. BP, Dudley and many other contributors have been making these amazing instruments for many years and the Music Man line from bookend to bookend rivals anything out there!! With that said, my original point of this email is, that we are so lucky to not only have amazing musicians on the MM roster.....they are all great people as well!!!

Vinnie is a really nice guy and always willing to chat it up , I wish him the best. Luke, Steve, Albert and JP are all class acts and great people. We have the best of both worlds!!!

Well put, Big Poppa.

EBMM, is all about relationships. That's superb in this day and age.

Proud to be aboard.
