Same pickups and tone woods and color. Check it out in the FS thread (shameless plug).

Wow... that top SUCKS just about as much as I have ever seen a top suck. How could EBMM let that out the door? ;)

It is a cool guitar indeed, sounds awesome.

I can imagine a scoop like that on a BFR being a bit of a challenge.

Are the BFR tops dropped? If so (and I presume so) carving a scoop into a top like that is gunna add some serious time and $$$. Good in theory though haha

They are. If you watch the JPX video, you can see the top being fitted over the arm contour with the vacuum bags, I assume the other BFR's are done the same way.

I could see how that would be expensive, but why not fit the top and drop it back in a CNC machine to rout out the scoop? I know am not that experienced in the way of guitar making, but it makes sense in my head. (?) I think the scoop is the greatest thing on electric guitar since the pickup was invented.....

Well, the BFR's don't use a thick top like a Les Paul or PRS, so routing a scoop afterwards would leave you with a section of alder showing through where the scoop is, like you can see on the BFR/Silo 20th JP used on Score.

Wouldn't it be possible to buy those pickups and mount yourself onto a JP-model to achieve the same as JP has in the video? Apart from the exclusive finish of course :p

I see. Could go for a two tone thing and have the scoop be opaque. Or just deal with the alder poking through. I could handle that for a scoop.

Tanax- It's not just the finish. I'm sure that guitar would have the tone block as well. I assume it's a prototype for the BFRs?

Alright, so take a JP BFR and change the pickups on that instead :p

Hey Pete - was that the guitar that BP sent to your shop the day we were all there for the JP clinic a few years ago? I don't remember if it was that one, or the first true JP6 BFR...

Mike, it didn't come to the shop but JP got it the day of the clinic - I was there when he first opened the box and his jaw hit the floor. He briefly mentioned the new guitar at the clinic and wound up using it for a few songs at the DT concert later that night.

Yep, that's the one. If that was offered, I would order one tomorrow.

I agree except I'd have two. One to play and one to keep in A1 condition.

I believe a limited production run of precise replicas of these would sell like wildfire.

I have resisted adding to my (6) JP6s for a couple of years now. This would break that hiatus instantly.

How about it BP? Limited run of 50? I bet you could sell them all instantly to people on this forum alone.... I'm sure they'd be more popular than those funny green guitars.... ;)

Oh, right xD
Does that matter tonewise?

Where would you get these pickups btw? Is it possible to buy them seperately?

Umm..... it wouldn't directly affect tone. Unless you're one of those people that thinks radical shaped guitars sound different because of their shape. I see that it could affect the tone because it makes it more comfortable (for me) to play, therefore making me want to play more, and therefore improving my technique. YMMV

I would think that the pickups would be the same as the ones in the 20th silo, considering how many people are saying they hear the difference in the tone when he uses that guitar. I guess only BP and JP know for sure.
