Tonight, I was woodshedding Toto Hydra (fresh in from the mail)...their best IMHO.

Gretchen is also the first one for me. I bought it (on cassette) just because it looked interesting. From the opening intro to OOTSP I was hooked, then when the riff came in, I almost passed out, it was so cool. Then came "Over my Head", and I couldn't believe it. Then "Summerland" I was almost in tears. Amazing.

I've been on a Blues kick for the last 6 months or so
thanks to my XM satellite radio; now I know what to buy.
Jonny Lang - Lie To Me - GREAT ALBUM! Although it was released in 1996 (when Jonny was 15 years old) It's new to me.
Susan Tedeshi - Live From Austin - Not 100% Blues, but a good album.
Debbie Davies - All I Found - Her latest disc. Agian, she's been around for a while, but she's new to me. www.debbiedavies.com
Smokin Joe Kubek - Best Of - Another guy I discovered on satellite radio.
My favorite track is #9 Walk On. Check it out for yourself: www.smokinjoekubek.com/bestof.htm
My advice to everyone: If you don't have satellite radio, get it ASAP. You don't know how much good music you're missing.

I caught King's X in a local bar aroud 1992. It must have been the tour supporting "Faith, Hope, Love" 'cause I remember them playing Mr. Wilson. But they mostly played material from Gretchen and some from Out of the Silent Planet.
They were the best sounding live act I've ever heard, hands down. To top it off, the venue was on old converted warehouse with terrible acoustics. As someone who ran sound in bars for many years, I would not have wanted to engineer a gig at that venue. Big kudos to a great soundman and greater band. It sounded just like a CD, but then again they paid their dues for many years before getting a record deal, so they were tight as hell.

My brother-in-law always plays Alice's Restaurant on Thanksgiving also - ABOUT ONCE AN HOUR !!!
I could never figure this out.
Is there some connection with this song to Thanksgiving?
He plays the song so often that I don't even hear the words.
