You too?

My brother-in-law always plays Alice's Restaurant on Thanksgiving also - ABOUT ONCE AN HOUR !!!

I could never figure this out.

Is there some connection with this song to Thanksgiving?

He plays the song so often that I don't even hear the words.

And yes, RIP, Link Wray.

Mike

I think the connection is they serve food at Alice's Restaurant and you serve food at Thanksgiving too.

I didn't bring any cd's with me to work today, but Donald Fagen's 'The Nightfly' is playing in the next room.

Very cool!

At the moment, I'm giving the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band a good listen.

Again, I didn't bring any cd's with me today, but 'Instant Karma' has been in my head for the last couple of days.

Guess I'll make a trip to Tower tonight. :D

Old 97's -- Alive and Wired (one of my favorite bands)
Supergrass -- Supergrass is 10 (greatest hits plus live bonus CD)
Sinead O'Connor -- Throw Down Your Arms (reggae covers w/Sly & Robbie, excellent)
Fountains of Wayne -- Out of State Plates (odds & sods collection)
X -- Los Angeles/Wild Gift (because I'm going to see them next Monday night, woo-hoo!)

This week -

-Dream Theater (there's a surprise  ) - Falling Into Infinity
-Sarah Macclachan - Surfacing (just rediscovered it and dusted it off)
-Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
-Jimi Hendrix - Smash Hits
-The Veggie Tales - I don't know the name of it, but It's hillarious Christmas music for my kids and I laugh my butt off too)
-Creed - Weathered
-Led Zeppelin - one of the box set discs
-Police - same as Zep

I also listen to books on CD and motivational speaker CDs a lot - helps keep the mind alive and optimistic. Plus if I listen to too much music I start playing bits and thinking they're mine, but . . . Sometime's turning off the music has been the best thing for my songwriting.

My 2 cents

Beth, check out the Live in Los Angeles DVD. It was filmed late last year during the reunion show that led to this year's X tour. I watched that DVD and bought tickets for the show the next day.

It's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road for me today.

What a great album! I think that's my favorite EJ album after Madman Across the Water.

I'll have to listen to that after I finish listening to the Hair Soundtrack from the Milos Foreman film.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was the first album I ever bought, and it still holds up for me. Probably can't say the same about many other LP purchases during my formative years.

Wow.. I didn't know X was still kicking.

Do they still have Billy Zoom, John Doe, and Exene Cervenka?

My first three albums were:

Moving Pictures - Rush
Diary of a Madman - Ozzy Osbourne
Screaming for Vengeance - Judas Priest

I've got to pick up the earlier stuff, as well (T-weed Connection, Don't Shoot Me..., Honky Chateau). Captain Fantastic is in the mail right now, and I'm debating on Rock of the Westies.

A great era for Sir Elton...and classic rock!
