Yeah, I kinda made an ass out of myself in front of Bootsy Collins -- then a couple years later made an ass out of myself in front of Dave Mustaine... [sigh]

I wouldn't worry about Mustaine too much...he's used to "ass" by now if he owns a mirror.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I gathered from him. I think him and Lars should duke it out one day... CELEBRITY DEATHMATCH!

Yeah, what a freakin punk! What the hell did Dave Ellefson ever do to him?

Speaking of Elvis Costello -- we're getting a double dose of him on the local radio station right now!

-What's so funny 'bout peace love and understanding? and....

we'll see when this song ends.

I think he put up with him the longest (from the very beginning)...certainly entitled to use the name in an endorsement setting!

Wow, I think DM might be the poster child for fussy guitarists...

could you imagine having to deal with that? no wonder they fired him right off the bat, with no chance to clean himself (or his attitude) up!

I'll tell you my Metallica story at the open house Beth...it revloves around their 1983 "Kill em All" recording sessions also done in Rochester, NY at Music America Studios and my friend Andy Wroblewski who was the assistant engineer on that project and the band crashing on my friend Gary Zefting's floor during those sessions....can you say "Pass the bong?"

Dude, DO tell. I CANT WAIT to hear about that one!

So I looked up the "event" at the bar with EC. Unless I misunderstood you, it seems as though these bar brawls were not few and far between. The "big one" that was mentioned in his biography took place in a Holiday Inn in Columbus, OH. This one, he got in a fight with Stephen Stills (and consequently called him a "steel nose", hahaha) and his gang after Elvis answered a question "what did he think about America and its people?" to which he replied "we hate you. we just come here for the money. we're the original white boys and you're the colonials". Geez, can you believe? I think that this was a bar brawl that happened just before he went to New York, so maybe he had some leftover anger he needed to get rid of! hee hee!!!

My memory is umm a bit "challenged" that far back I'm afraid but I'd place the event somewhere in late October, early November 1979.
