Although John Deacon, Paul S. Denman, and Louis Johnson were my original favorites, my current favorite EBMM bass wielding player is Dave LaRue.

It should be noted that John Deacon is mainly associated with a P-bass. The bass-line to "Another One Bites The Dust" was recorded on his StingRay and he openly acknowledged the line's influence to Bernard Edwards' bass line from "Good Times."

If I can have only one it would be Paul Spencer Denman...Such simple but effective lines. He has the sound I hear in my head and the sound I most identify myself with. THAT TONE is what I love to hear from my basses... Honorable mention MUST go to Bernard Edwards, Tony Levin, and Louis Johnson!

Peace,

T

First bass inspiration, let alone MM: Chuck Mangione's bassist Charles Meeks, played a Stingray
Later: Tony, Bernard, Louis, all there for sure.
Didn't Matchbox 20 bass player Brian Yale play MM? Not the most technically boffo player, but definitely knows how to reside in the pocket.

I'm relative new in the Music Man world, but from all what I've heard until now, Dave La Rue is my No. 1 EBMM bassman!

I was pretty surprised visiting his web page recently and saw he's not playing only Bongos, he plays Sterlings too! :)

Also, Paul Turner from Jamiroquai...uses several toys, but I have seen him with both 4 and 5 string Stingrays...he presently holds what might be considered the most enviable job in all of bassdom (since playing too much is a requirement!)
