While we were all looking at the retro issue StingRays at the NAMM show – the Bongo guys were all feeling a tad sad. So – I mentioned the thought of this thread then and maybe now is a nice time to launch. What would make your “Dream Bongo”? Not some sort of artsy knobs – go to Q-Parts for that. Something that would really make a nice special Bongo and be unique in some way. Hopefully this has not already been done - I did not see the thread anywhere.

OK – I will throw out my first idea. Not an original one really. A mahogany body. I am not sure of the neck yet. Mahogany would probably couple with the body and increase the effect, while maybe maple or rosewood would add something else.

The Bongo is a very light guitar – so I don’t care about the extra weight - welcome it actually. But the wood should add some nice fundamental to the tone I would think.

Ideas?

More color choices. Other than that, the Bongo is damn well near perfect.

White
White Pearl
Ice Blue

My dream Bongo (PLEASE MR STERLING BALL LISTEN TO MY PLEA) would be one with an unpainted neck, waxed maple and maple fingerboard. Seafoam Green colour.

Is that too much to ask?

For me, it really doesn't matter because it's GAS for everything new EBMM comes up with... too bad I don't have the bankroll to obtain them as soon as they are released!

I guess I am with RaginRog and don't care about the weight. And the standard basswood version is about for those that do. I have a bass with swamp ash wings and maple neck through. It seems more like the lighter woods in sound and heft. Interesting to look at though.

Hey Wazoo! A friend of mine actually sands a lot of his necks to get the wood feel. Others like paint. I know it sounds a bit drastic, but....

My dream is for my olive gold Bongo 5HH to be sold to someone on the forum (or anyone else with the scratch). Go check it out.

About different wood I'll consider until tomorrow, but according the color..., well white pearl metallic (like paint on Lexus cars) and black perloid PG with matching headstock of course and Ebony fret board with some special white shell inlays (like Dargie, or something)!

HSp could be my choice, I think...

About body wood, tomorrow, I must over sleep that matter! :D

I see. That's why. Then you are excused!

You wouldn't believe how good the 25th really is (review forthcoming); I gotta have another one. And I'm counting on the Classics to be the next big thing.

Saw your new baby... time to update ur sig, bro!;)
