shakingbacon... there's something you should know about no pickguard... something I have learnt with my 25th.
Having no pickuguard aestetically is a lovely thing, agreed, however not having it has his cons, and that is that once you are used to anchor your thumb on the pickguard at an angle which you are by now very comfortable with, once there is no pickguard, the thickness of which allows your thumb to be slightly lower from the pickups and your hand will pluck the strings in an unusual way to what you are accustomed with.
Try removing your Bongo pickguard for a minute, play it like that and see exactly what I mean. Eventually you'll get used to it, but swapping between basses with and without will always give you those, "HUH?" moments before you adjust
