no pickguard
gunstock oiled neck

shakingbacon... there's something you should know about no pickguard... something I have learnt with my 25th.

Having no pickuguard aestetically is a lovely thing, agreed, however not having it has his cons, and that is that once you are used to anchor your thumb on the pickguard at an angle which you are by now very comfortable with, once there is no pickguard, the thickness of which allows your thumb to be slightly lower from the pickups and your hand will pluck the strings in an unusual way to what you are accustomed with.

Try removing your Bongo pickguard for a minute, play it like that and see exactly what I mean. Eventually you'll get used to it, but swapping between basses with and without will always give you those, "HUH?" moments before you adjust :D

Of course, this only applies if you use the edge of the pickguard as a thumbrest (and wouldn't apply at all if you're just starting out with a Bongo). I don't have any problems with 25th and prefer to Bongo, but I'm just starting out as well. There's more pickup to anchor to on the 25th because the pickguard is not there. Diff'ernt strokes for diff'ernt folks what my daddy always said.

You wouldn't believe how good the 25th really is (review forthcoming); I gotta have another one. And I'm counting on the Classics to be the next big thing.

Saw your new baby... time to update ur sig, bro!;)

I know, I've played one! A 5HH no less. It was incredible. I think Bongos are too cool though, there is something about them. In relation to the title of the thread, ANY Bongo is my perfect Bongo.

Signature updated!

I wouldn't mind that new purple on a bongo with black hardware, that or the mahogany bongo

I am dreaming of a Stealth Bongo 4HS with Ebony fingerboard.

That is currently my plans for my next instrument. After that it will be a Classic Stingray 4H with 2 Band EQ.

I love my 25th and my Bongos and my Stingray. Couldn't throw one out for the other. EBMM's Kick!!! I will say that the Bongo and 25th necks are dreams to play.

About different wood I'll consider until tomorrow, but according the color..., well white pearl metallic (like paint on Lexus cars) and black perloid PG with matching headstock of course and Ebony fret board with some special white shell inlays (like Dargie, or something)!

HSp could be my choice, I think...

About body wood, tomorrow, I must over sleep that matter! :D

OMG! That is a sweet looking bass. Yeah, white Bongo with Ebony fretboard... my perfect Nathan East bass.....

Yeah :D ...but except the gold hardware!

Usual chrome plated hardware is just fine to me!

By the way, I wrote white pearl metallic, not simple white! ;)

According the body wood, well, let factory to make some tests and than decide!
If You ask me, ash is the best, but always could be something better, or just leave mahogany, I don't know!
