I have to stay at Holiday Inn's...Hyatt & Days Inn will detain me until the proper authorities arrive..And it my say "protect & serve" on the side of the car..but that's the last thing they've ever done for me...I want my BONGO-6!!!! I'm holding off on another set of SONOR's so I'll have the emergency funds for 2 of these things..So the Link family back home is very upset .I wont be able to show my face in Wuppertal for some time...or anywhere near HSS in Richmond

From Wikipedia.org. (No, I didn't add it there.) :)

During the recording of "Systematic Chaos", Myung used various MusicMan basses (most notably an Egyptian Smoke Bongo 5 HH), which can be seen a few times during in-studio videos and the EPK for this new album. At the beginning of the 2007 "Chaos in Motion" tour, he was spotted playing a MusicMan Bongo 5 HS on stage as opposed to his signature Yamaha instrument. This is the first time since before "Images and Words" that Myung has toured with MusicMan instruments. It is heavily speculated that Myung will fully transition to Bongo basses as soon as development of the 6 string version of the instrument is complete.

You didn't, but I did because at the time that I did modify it was true that were were expecting it. I mean, it didn't take long for many of us to put two and two together. Note that I didn't say anything about a sponsorship deal or artist agreement, as that has neither been confirmed or denied with BP's "Handshake" rule. And enjoneer's note in another thread that one of the prototypes has "disappeared" from the factory to go to a prominent bass player in a prominent progressive rock band has only added fuel to the this great fire of MM love.

I'm really hoping that whoever gets that prototype loves it and is willing to stick with it ;)

please dont add that it is a joke and didnt come from us.

I made the bongo 6 with zero assurances from John Myung that he would play it. I decided to make it because I felt confident that if he was loking for a new bass to play that we would have a great shot. Conceit,arrogance,confidence...whatever.... WE sent t him basses in the studio and heard from JP that he was using them and that the band loved the bass sounds he was getting.

It is baby steps time...he has the black one and we are awaiting word. It will not be a JM sig bass if he plays it.

Aww, don't fret good sir, I wasn't going to add it. i did find it rather humorous though.

Let's hope you get a positive response from him. I'm hoping to be able to get my hands on one to replace my lost bass when you put these out on the market.

Hi BP,

Just curious on this one and it's probably a cheeky question... You mentioned in the past (I'm paraphrasing here a bit and probably getting mixed up) that EBMM didn't make 6 string basses because they were not as marketable, and the only way they could be marketable would be with the support of a major endorsing artist. If John Myung were to decide that the Bongo 5 was all that he needed, would this have an influence on whether the Bongo 6 eventually hits the stores or not?

NO because the response from the thread of development was so strong that it probably would have seen the light of day. In the cloaked in secrecy era of guitar design....(all of the other mfrs) you would have never know that we were prototyping.

Keep in mind that we have no shortage of ideas just production. THe day we stop prototyping is the day I sell out.

I love this company! I love how there aren't artist signature models. I think it's so stupid that all of these companies feel they need to hand out sig models to anyone that has a song on the radio just to make a few extra bucks. These basses sell themselves, and I'm sure that is something you are damn proud of! Keep up the excellent work.

I own 3 Stingrays, and a Bongo 6 will surely be in my stable when they are available.

Cool! Very cool! I wonder what projects--if any--we'll have the privilege of seeing developed in the future. It was such a great thing to see the Bongo 6 developed. Thanks, BP. Hopefully, we'll get to see more when it's appropriate.

Are you sure he'll even answer? :p

I hope someone will take pics at tonight's Luxembourg gig. I'd like to see if the Bongo 6 makes an appearance.

Myung at Pier Six Balto

WOO HOO!:D:D Myung and company coming to Pier Six in Baltimore on August 14, still tickets left. I can't wait to see if the Bongo 6 is in action then, that should be plenty of time. Whatever he plays is going to be awesome :D:D
