During the recording of "Systematic Chaos", Myung used various MusicMan basses (most notably an Egyptian Smoke Bongo 5 HH), which can be seen a few times during in-studio videos and the EPK for this new album. At the beginning of the 2007 "Chaos in Motion" tour, he was spotted playing a MusicMan Bongo 5 HS on stage as opposed to his signature Yamaha instrument. This is the first time since before "Images and Words" that Myung has toured with MusicMan instruments. It is heavily speculated that Myung will fully transition to Bongo basses as soon as development of the 6 string version of the instrument is complete.

please dont add that it is a joke and didnt come from us.
I made the bongo 6 with zero assurances from John Myung that he would play it. I decided to make it because I felt confident that if he was loking for a new bass to play that we would have a great shot. Conceit,arrogance,confidence...whatever.... WE sent t him basses in the studio and heard from JP that he was using them and that the band loved the bass sounds he was getting.
It is baby steps time...he has the black one and we are awaiting word. It will not be a JM sig bass if he plays it.

Keep in mind that we have no shortage of ideas just production. THe day we stop prototyping is the day I sell out.
NO because the response from the thread of development was so strong that it probably would have seen the light of day. In the cloaked in secrecy era of guitar design....(all of the other mfrs) you would have never know that we were prototyping.
