Not a HH man myself, so can't help by buying one, but a big "well done" to EBMM once again for their commitment to the leftward amongst us.

I check in here everyday and I say to myself...please let Tim and Scott be happy about a left handed Petrucci, and hopefully you will pull out of your funk, and realize what a beautiful thing this is. :D

Ahh, the memories.

If I remember correctly, my first run-in with Music Man guitars and the forum was when I was working at a music chain up here called Long and McQuade. I had just played a right handed JP6 for the first time, and was literally in love with it. Sure, I had seen Sting Rays and Sterlings before, but at that point I was taking bass playing seriously. The guitar playing was a hobby at best. Certainly, down the road I would put down the bass and play my guitar again... but that's a story for my autobiography.

I really wanted to play a left handed version, and I was in the phase of my life where everything was available to me, if I just asked (so I thought). I emailed Fender for custom shop quotes, did the same for Paul Reed Smith guitars. The sky was the limit for me. However, playing this stupid right handed guitar showed me a few things: you didn't have to pay a boatload of money to get an amazing guitar and i needed to have one.

I was sitting in the drum room of the music store and decided to email Dan McPherson. I said the usual "love the guitars, blah blah blah" and asked if a left handed JP6 was possible. I got a reply within minutes and it was my first real taste of guitar defeat. It wasn't available, and there were no current or future plans to make one.

I was devastated. I was literally in love for the first time, and needed to fight for my love. That was when it all began for me. My friend Matt suggested I go with the screen name "jimmy-jengas" since I had used the term a while back. I signed up for the forums and decided to spread my disgust throughout the internet. "why won't you make it?" "it's unfair."... I sounded like a whiny bitch.

I got a few replies from people saying "boy, it sucks to be left handed" and then the reply from Sterling sort of cemented it for me. He said that it would be too much money and effort to get the machines to do everything backwards, and the R&D on the trem would be very difficult. Also, there wasn't enough outcry for it.

I relented. I gave up my search. I decided that I would be the voice of the left handed JP6 twofold. I would a) tell people why it can't be done and b) take any chance I could to throw in a jab about wanting one more than anything else in the world. It had gotten so bad that I tried to find other guitars to replace my want for it. I bought a custom shop Fender. I bought a four thousand dollar PRS. I bought a very nice right handed Strat and flipped it upside down. I bought an Ibanez. I literally went from company to company trying to find what I was looking for.

At some point while working there, I found the Silhouette Special. One was ordered left handed for the store and I picked it up straight away. It was an HSS and the wiring was not traditional wiring. I set out from that point on to get a 3SC Silhouette Special to relax my single coil needs. By the way, it's perfect.

On the humbucker front, I was sitting on an Ibanez and a Axis Super Sport. They are great guitars. I will not knock the Ibanez company because I've never played a bad one in my life. If Paul Gilbert puts his name on them, I support them. The Super Sport was lovely too, but I hated the neck. I wanted my JP6LH!

Now that we are where we are in life with our left handed goal coming to fruition, I feel that my life is complete, musically. You know how we are all looking for that sound? That feel? That one thing? I have found every little nuance of MY sound, from the amps to the guitar to the pedals to the picks to the patch cables. It's taken fifteen years, but having the announcement of the left handed JP6 rear itself, I feel complete.

By the by, I figure this is a great place to show my TWO rigs. I don't have one because I am a rock star in my mind... and play two wholly different styles: blues and instrumental rock.

1) JP6LH, Evidence Audio cables, Brain .88 picks, MXR Phase '74 reissue, MXR Carbon Copy Delay, Korg Pitchblack tuner, Laney GH100L and 4x12 cab.

2) Silhouette Special, Evidence Audio cables, Brain .88 picks, BB Preamp, ZVex Probe, Korg Pitchblack tuner, Dr. Z EZG-50 and 2x12 cab.

I am complete.

Oh, you're just looking for an excuse to bump this thread up. I would never do that. :p

Great story Tim. It sounds exactly like my tale, except I never bought the $4000 PRS.

We will have to start our own "JP6LHOC" (need to find something shorter and catchier) :)

I didn't even list half of the other guitars I went through. I went through a pissload of them! Luckily I am only a supporter of the Balls now. Nothing but Silhouette Specials and JP6LH's to come my way.

As for the club, I don't think we should limit it to JP6LH's. I think having a leftist members only faction is cool enough. Why discriminate, right?

OLF - Official Leftist Faction.

Not to be confused with some kind of left wing radical political party... although I would like to rule the world... *ahem*

I like it. I second the motion!

Nothing..I was kidding. :)

good! :)

I've only had 3 guitars and still do to this day. A jackson dinky, an epiphone, at a crappy right handed no name brand guitar.

I can't wait for my JP :)

It will truly be a glorious day!

anyone have an idea when we can order them. I am hoping it will be anounced at Summer NAMM. That would be scweeeet, if we have to wait untill 09 I fear for my mental health... I have decided to go with 2 pets, a Jp6 Medallion Gold and whenever I have the cash a Jp7 BFR, I imagine once I get those 2 I will not be purchasing a solid body for years!

I was talking to Beth and she predicted the timeline of October for the guitars to be in production. I like this time, because it is my birthday, and I can cash in on the "honey, will you buy me this for my birthday? I only turn 26 once." vibe. Hahaha.

So, let's not get too anxious. This will be a test of our patience. After all, apparently it is a virtue. So, let's just keep our pants, our heads held high and wait like god boys and girls for our dreams to come true.

First, those pictures do not curb my enthusiasm for a JP6. I fail to see any relevance to this thread. Tsk tsk tsk, Scott. You're tainting it. Am I going to have to start policing this or something? Hahahaha. I'm only kidding. I think it's very nice. I am sure the crowd loved that you were playing an N'Sync song on a Music Man. HAHAHA!

You know what bums me out? The window for the 2008 LE ordering will be closed before the JP6LH hits the street, and I REALLY want a JP6 in the Sequoia Gold color. I think it is the nicest limited edition color yet, and am really bummed about not being able to jump on it. Arrrrrrrrgh. That is me being upset, not being a pirate.
