Dude Alex Laiho is amazing.John Petrucci is really talented but he also gets pretty boring after a while.Listen to some Children of Bodom and I think you'll change your mind about callin him a snot nosed kid. That a load of crap.

I don't care how "talented" he may be. He's still a jag. I could barely read that stupid interview.

Plus, Zakk Wylde may be a decent player (I don't really know), but I really wish he would drop the "I'm tough and sullen and dark and raw, brother!" act. He was practically a chick when he first joined Ozzy.

Ok I was just rollin arround on the net and I found this thread. I know its probably a year old but I had to bring this one back. I was laughin my ass off at this thread. Cause its apparent that half of you guys baggin on Alexi Laiho have never heard him play.

All you oldschoolers are way to closed minded, and you're baseing your oppinion solely on your favoritism taword Dream Theater not great guitar playing. I can understand that you guys are partial to them but that doesnt make John Petrucci better than Alexi Laiho. I'm not trying to take anything away from JP, hes a dope guitarist. But you are too quick to insult Alexi. I'll put it this way, he could definitely put his money where his mouth is. This cat can melt the neck of HIS esp. Yeah thats right, he has a guitar named after him now. So hes gotta be doing something right. And as far as him learning something from JP, yeah that very well may be but JP could probably learn a few things from Alexi I can assure you. I've been playing the guitar for 18 years now and I've seen Children of Bodom live and there are things Alexi does with his guitar that dont seem possible. He is very likely the most technical soloist I've ever heard (besides Phil Keaggy, and if you know anything about the guitar you will know who he is and admit hes the best guitarist to ever pick up a guitar). But Alexi can back it up. I'd just let him say what he wants cause this cat can play better than any one of us. The fact that you are tossing your retarded oppinions arround about him is in fact the same exact reason you are condemning him. What he was saying about JP is no different than what you guys are saying about him and the funny thing is some of you had never heard him. You are all Hypocrites in my opinion.

Arguments which are based merely on opinions are ultimately doomed to failure. To say anyone is better than anyone else or that someone is the best player ever is to express an opinion. Let's not get heated about it. We all have our favourites. Can we not respect each other's opinions. Life's too short guys!

That very well may be, but Alexi Laiho has more talent in his left ****in pinky than you or anyone elses that posts on these forums includeing myself. I just wanted to express that in the best way possible. I'm good with words and I choose them very wisely. Thats how I express my "opinion". Weather it be right or wrong is not up to any of you to decide. Life is too short. You are very right in that aspect of your post, but saying JP is better than Alexi when you've never heard Alexi play is a very bold and foolish statement. All I was trying to say in my last post is do your mother****in homework before commin to class. And please by all means, express your opinions. I really wanna know what you all based your judgement on. I mean come on, this is a forum. ****in post a thread. Flame me, it makes my day.

Hi Cob,

I'm sorry that this thread offended you. It seems that way, since I hear a lot of anger in your posts. We are open to all opinions here at Ernie Ball/Music Man, provided they are aired in a tactful and respectful manner. I know some of the other posts could be considered disrespectful and for that we are sorry that it offended you. However, to dig up bones in this matter is unnecessary. The thread IS almost a year old. If you are looking for a fight, please take it elsewhere. Please decide 'whether' or not you would like to participate on this forum as a polite and contributing member and if you cannot, please discontinue your membership.

Thanks and best regards,
Beth :)

If you were really good with words, you might consider that "weather " is what occurs when the sun shines, it rains , it snows etc. "Whether" is the word you are looking for.

From Dictionary.com

wheth·er ( P ) Pronunciation Key (hwthr, wth-)
conj.
Used in indirect questions to introduce one alternative: We should find out whether the museum is open. See Usage Note at doubt. See Usage Note at if.

Considering that Steve Lukather and Vinnie Moore post on these boards on occasion, that statement is just not true.

Frankly, there are a lot of amazingly talented unknown players here. You've never heard their stuff so you can't really make that call. If you stick around and check out the forum member's material when they post it, you'll retract that.

(Plus lousgtr's statement about Steve and Vinnie.)
