Frankly, there are a lot of amazingly talented unknown players here. You've never heard their stuff so you can't really make that call. If you stick around and check out the forum member's material when they post it, you'll retract that.

(Plus lousgtr's statement about Steve and Vinnie.)

Couldn't agree more. There are many great players on this board. I really enjoy the videos that Tristan posts from time to time, he is an amazing player.

Alexi Laiho is one of my favourite guitarists. thats a fact. Here are my views on John Petrucci. First of all, he is an amazing guitarist BUT..... I can get very bored listening to him. This is because to me, sometimes he seems like he is just trying to stick as many notes into a lick as possible, because he can. This does not mean i am saying he is a bad guitarist, just not to my taste. I think this is kind of what Laiho was hinting at. He never denied his talent. He just said its boring to listen to after a while. I can listen to Steve Vai, he again is one of my favourite guitarists, because every note sounds like it is perfectly picked. It doesnt get boring, Yngwie is great, but again sometimes he seems to care more about being an impressive guitarist than having a decent song.

Im not bashing anyones bands here, and im sorry if my comments offend any of the die-hard DT fans. Laiho may not be anywhere near JPs level of talent, but I much prefer him, becuse his solos serve the song.

Opinions?

Isn't this an opinion issue? To be honest, neither one of them is even in my top 20 of favorite guitarists. But hey, it's just my opinion. :D

I don't think you need to dumb it up, your reliance on profanity speaks volumes about your intelligence.

Why don't you save some of that vitriol for Laiho who started this entire pissing contest.

Profanity is an expression, it has nothing to do with intelligence. There are a lot of very smart people that use profane language. One of my college profesors used foul language all the time and hes eared two different doctorates. To say the use of profane language is "speaks volumes about intelligence" is another very foolish comment. And once again, I never claimed to be a genious. You made that judgement on your own. To use my profanity against me in this manner is asinine. Oh wait sorry, its "stupid". Forgot who I was talking to there for a second.

So, are you this much of a nugget of joy in the real world, too? Or, does the internet and mom's basement make you all tough, and stuff?

CoB>DT for someone that has only contributed 9 posts, you sure do talk to yourself a lot. Remember this is a forum about MM guitars and not who's better than who. EBMM even downplay talk on bagging other guitar manufactures. Stick around and enjoy the fun...

Hey

enough is enough!....Alex was very immature in his written criticism of a fellow guitarist. It doesnt diminish Alex's unique skills, and I will bet you that years down the road he would probably rather seized the opprounity to talk about something unique to his playing or sound rather then bashing.

Yngwie used to do it all the time and all it did was alienating his core audience.

COB please relax and stop the confrontational posts.....There is no future here for the tenor of this thread.......(plus we have cyber ways of frustrating the hell out of you)

Deal?
