Introducing Sterling by Music Man

You should have called it the Big Poppa line. That name woulda "popped" in the marketplace. "Big Poppa" is marketable -- use it.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but this isn't half a bad idea!

I ask this for clarification purposes. I want to clearly understand. I am not trying to criticize. Please correct me if I'm wrong:

1. The line is called "Sterling by Music Man", but the instruments will not be made by Music Man.
(Comment: If this is true, then there will be confusion.)

2. The instruments will be made overseas by a Korean(?) company, utilizing EBMM designs(?), but EBMM will have the final say as to quality control.

3. The instruments will not be sold by EBMM; therefore, EBMM will not be involved with customer service issues.
(Will EBMM be involved in distribution in any way?)

If I'm understanding this correctly, then Sterling by Music Man is a lot more like OLP than it is like PRS SE.

You started this thread as a trial balloon to gauge opinion. I weighed in with mine -- you didn't put a disclaimer saying, "Only thumbs-up need reply." If it is running 300-2 as you indicate, then you have your answer -- maybe. I wouldn't use the response here in this forum as definitive -- official company products forums are always crawling with KAs that will tell you whatever you want to hear.

Sorry to disagree here, but the thread wasn't started to guage opinion. It was to introduce a done deal.

The name, models, quality control etc, have all been decided, it wasn't an open forum design meeting.

I wouldn't class myself as a KA, but if I don't like something, I tend to keep it to myself, as opposed to posting and re-posting negative comments on how I perceive something.

You do know that Fender Japan guitars aren't made by Fender right?

You assumed that we have focus groups and other touchy feely marketing sessions. Guess what? We dont have those either...

But the thing that gets me a little peeved is that I have said that this is a hijack. I have said it is a done deal and I still get this BS.

Entitlement is assuming because you own a bass by posting a short video that I was asking or wanting an extra opinion.

THe bass side got shut down because of self importance and making sure that their voice was bashed into our sub concious...

Guess what? I have said many times that I think the name sucks. IT wasnt my idea. IT was Guitar Center's.....seriously. THey are the most powerful entity in our industry and I have found in my focus sessions (aka the voices in my tiny head) that if they are happy I drive a nicer car.

YOu know my dad was a Fender Dealer starting in 1950...he was an endorsee of LEo's and a beta tester. He fought Leo on the Stratocaster's name.....he said it was a crummy name too. IT was but people get over it. Like the name Music Man...how wierd is that today?

Made in Cali I really donht think that you would like to see any success...but if I'm wrong and misread your intentions starting with your handle and posts then stick around and tell a joke or something.

I am a bit intriqued by the Silo. Of course I would love to play one before I make any real conclusion. But the photos look good.

I want a bass from the Sterling line... Not a bass player per se, so I don't think I want to spend so much on a bass. heh.
