I think it's a really great idea to get together some ideas about what you want to play and who's available to play it with you.

Nothing wrong with making it up as you go, but it's easier to have something to hang your hat on at the beginning (unless you're Tommy or Sterling or something, and by my scientific calculations, all but two of us us are not).

I'm sure we'll have more than enough bassists Friday night (they're like cockroaches around this forum, only cockroaches know chords) but I'd be happy to play a song or two with any of you guys.

As long as it isn't hard. If it's hard, then I'll likely pass it off to Jason or Ben or Ray or someone who can play hard stuff. Easy stuff, I'm your huckleberry. My band is all about easy stuff, and I think I played blues and some Elvis stuff with BP and crew at the Open House and wasn't terribly ashamed of myself.

I'm also perfectly happy to sit on my lazy behind and watch you guys.

Anyway, a separate thread about who's going to play with whom and what sort of things you might play is a really good idea and doesn't require me to start it.

Go!

I'm down for some crazy freak-out improv! :D

Or whatever, give me a few keys and a time signature and I'll make a mess of it. :)

I'm going to being one of my JP7's and my little (heavy as hell) 83 Boogie MarkIIC+. Not sure if the amp will make it to the jam (it can if requested), but it will be at the hotel. :)

Also, I'll be at the hotel sometime between noon and 2pm.

I used to live in Dallas and am really familiar with the whole area. I may hit up one of my favorite (if not favorite) mexican restaurants ever in Lower Greenville called The Blue Goose. Get ready to let your belt out a notch if you go there!

Other than that I may go and hit Guitar Center or something and scrat... er, play some guitars. :)

I'm flyin in on Wednesday, so meetin at the Hyatt will NOT be a problem. Wonderdog and I have a few songs we are hoping to play, and I've been toying with the idea of playing an original  but we shall see what takes us where.

Edit:
Why am I awake so early in the morning?

Hell Yeah!

He Steve, how about we jam some Kings X! We talked about it last time.......

Dave

DaveB,

I'll play some King's X if we can find someone to sing it!

I know "Summerland", "Over my Head", "Golidlox", "Mr. Wilson", "Pleaides"... to name a few. (I'll have to woodshed to learn some of Ty's leads.. but I think I can get close enough..)

Since most of King's X tunes are in Drop-D tuning, I'm tempted to say let's try to play one that uses standard tuning for the sake of expediency. Goldilox, Summerland, Over my head, and Mr. Wilson are NOT drop D so they'd be candidates...
