thank you very much :) Is it ash body? And yea, it is las vegas gold, I love this base :)

ajo, in that period of time we were using both poplar and ash on the solid color bodies. There is no way to know for sure short of removing the neck and looking at the bare wood in the neck pocket (not recommended in the slightest degree unless absolutely necessary! ;) )

Hey there.
Finally got my account activated.

Was wandering if anyone can help dating my stingray?
Serial number 35232. Black stingray four string, birdseye-mapel neck, rosewood board (brazillian or malagasy I think).

Cheers.

Cheers for the date.
I got it from my Step-dad and he always said it was a 89. Not far off.

Could you tell me what wood was used. Especially the type of rosewood on the board? It's been bugging me for a while.

Cheers again

PH, this bass was completed on 6/04/92 and shipped originally to the Bass Centre in Hollywood, CA, long OOB. The finish is Sunburst (now known as Honeyburst), the neck is of course maple with a rosewood fretboard.

H, in those days we were pretty color and wood specific. The black finish would be sprayed over a poplar body. The rosewood we have always used has come from India or that general part of the world for the most part (to the best of my knowledge). Hope that eases your mind a bit.
