will it be available in left handed?

please...

I doubt it, buddy. We pushed our luck with the first run of JPs. Let's not inundate the boys with the Balls with more whining this time.

...

Okay, fine. Whine away.

:D

The more I look at this, the more I love it. Thanks for the preview!

I'm pretty surprised JP decided to go with a 5-way switch though, but that just means more tonal combinations.

Damn, I won't be able to get one though. Is this a one-year thing or will it continue? Out of curiosity, will it be available in 7-string and baritone?

Lets not try to argue the rights of people I think that you could have expressed yourself without attacking the fact that many liked it. ALso your opinion on this is meaningless....no war...just we made John's new guitar...The funny thing is that you liked the bfr....honestly there was the biggest war ever here over that.....

Here is what I think...hold it play it...if it works you will like it.

I know that when BMW or some of the companies take a design departure I usually like the old ones better....If it was up to me all JP guitars would still have the scoop....I dont get that input either nor do I want it....I want to listen to the artists and try to make what they are imagining

I figured I'd see the size differences and overall changes by layering a couple photos.

Note how the size of both horns are the same, though the upper horn has more scoop and now appears to angle inwards. Also, the bottom of the guitar is now symmetrical and is a bit wider.

Otherwise pretty much the same, not so drastic as some of you make it seem.

Thanks for doing that!

Fair enough.

ALso your opinion on this is meaningless....no war...just we made John's new guitar...The funny thing is that you liked the bfr....honestly there was the biggest war ever here over that.....

I'm well aware of that. Nonetheless, this is still a discussion board where people will make their observations/opinions for the sake of discussion. No two minds were designed to think exactly alike. That is what keeps things interresting in retrospect. Never been a "Yes-man!" and don't plan to start now. Sure, my opinion is meaningless in your eyes, because you spec'ed it out to one artist's rendering (John Petrucci's in this case). And, that's fine and totally understandable. Yet, the proposed designed is unveiled before the whole world to observe with the intent to market to the general public. Which in my mind, gives us, the general public, a right to critique....as we are the potential consumers of said product. The same consumers that create the cash flow to make it possible for Music Man's R&D dept. to build an instrument to one particular artist's specs. and vision.

And, hell yeah I liked the BFR! What is there NOT to like? On the BFR JP6, you made the body slightly bigger and better access on the lower horn. I like the shape better overall than the regular JP6. You added a push/pull knob for single coil operation. They come with BEAUTIFUL flame or quilted maple tops...along with the very best tone woods that you have available. The finishes are outstanding. Better fretwork. They were the first to come with the unique mahogany blocks. What is there not to love? They are simply the "cream of the crop."

Relax. Don't clutter up this thread arguing please. Let's get back on track. Here are some of the highlights that differentiate the JPX from the other JP models:

- Half as many chambers as the 25th Anniversary
- Wider and taller frets
- Ebony board
- Neck color matches body color
- Black / Stealth hardware
- Super Sport controls / 5 way blade
- No push pull
- Streamlined top horn
- Bottom end is symmetrical
Okay ... let's get back to the guitar.

Dargin ... what's the deal with half as many chambers? Did you guys make protos with different chambers and he just liked that one best? Or was there a design reason to go with fewer chambers? (ie less resonant so it's a little more "in control")

BP ... any cool stories from prototyping? Any weird stuff you guys tried that you can tell us about? I love hearing about the process.

Very cool stuff.

Question: Is Barolo a pearl finish?

Loving the symmetry of the shape with the slimmer upper horn and revised bridge end contour. Very cool. This thing is growing on me--not that I didn't like it in the first place.
