This sounds great! Being new to the EBMM forums, I never knew this existed.

I really hope we'll be able to swap the bongo electronics for this!

At the BP/JP Guitar Center Session a few weeks ago I almost got a chance to see the Game Changer!!! I was psyched, but BP told somethings and said at this time he'd love to so it to us, but he couldn't for legal reasons.

Can't wait, JP spoke about how it was gonna be the next best thing since sliced bread!!!
Hahahahahahahaha

Very interesting thread. I have a sneaky suspicion that Big Poppa started this thread as a way of doing a bit of market research to see what the reaction would be. It seems that for many of you, more is better. In other words, you love the idea if having a bazillion choices. If you are like that, then this is the bass for you.

However, not everyone feels that way. I am more of a "set it and forget it" guy. I tried out a 25th anniversary bass and found all those choices to be overwhelming. So this would not be a bass for me and I suspect there are others who share this viewpoint.

As many of you know, I got "permission" from the better half to get a Bongo. I like the idea of the HH because of the deep and rich tone you get from having a neck pickup. But I am not keen on having too many dials and knobs. Likely I will play this Bongo with the two pickups blended and a fairly flat eq and leave it that way.

So...just offering another viewpoint here. But that is probably why you need many products as one size does not fit all.

I totally understand where you're coming from Powman. Sometimes that tried and true go-to setting is all you really need. That is the essence of this product, though. You have the choice to set it and forget it if you want. You also have the choice to search for your own personal holy grail of tone. He never said this was for everyone :D Just those of us who want to choose our settings instead of him and Dudley :D

Just FYI... at our Halloween gig my Bongo 5H caused a picture to fall off the wall, and I play it pretty much flat.

It can get plenty deep and rich.

But go for the HH... if you don't you'll always wonder, and it will indeed sound great. On my HHp I leave the pickup blend centered almost all the time.

Sweet!!! Mind you, I already caused a vase to shake off the fireplace mantle with my Sterling. Thank goodness I could blame the cat.:D

Apparently the LPish location switch is the toggle for the settings.

It is back in a secure spot at the booth and haven't been able to get beans of info on it. Nearly got a look at the computer screen.

Watched BP hit that toggle and drastically change the sound of that thing.

Woosh!

That thing is really a secret!

Wonder whether it could be fitted onto existing instruments. If not that adds another bass onto the list for 2010.

could that be a toggle to switch preamps? there are no push buttons on this big al, maybe for more room for electronics.

Didn't they mention earlier that the 3-way was a bank switch and the 5-way the settings in the bank? So you get 15 settings. Anyways, very interested in this. They're being kinda publicly secretive about it so maybe an announcement is imminent.

Had a good conversation with Scott and he told me some deets but the reality is it is something that is coming but still subject to changes and what it could be in before ready for full public disclosure.

I'll let the EBMM folks disclose what they can.

I even tried doing a patent search to see if I could find some dirt. No luck. I found one patent filed in December that seemed to be similar but that was filed by someone in Maryland, not California. Patent applications aren't the most exciting thing to read, so I gave up.

But if BP calls it the "GameChanger", it's got to be good.
