What Colour is this? or EBMM Bass Finishes Guide

The earlier ones were a bright Trans Red. Then they darkened but not sure when. These used Alder body wood which may have had something to do with it. The colour brightened up again around 1998 (year??)

For info, I posted the '87 bass details in the SN database at the time and it came back as alder bodied (from the pics on Ebay the grain was very different from an ash body - much less pronounced) but the colour was very bright red.

Anyone at EBMM got the details on trans red? Maybe the mid 90s were poplar bodies?

It's not the bass off ebay, but I saw that and his claims of less than 50 made, and it got me wondering. I'm the only owner mine has had from manufacture, and mine is a 3band, rather than the 2 band that was on ebay recently.

I absolutely LOVE the bass, its the only bass I've owned in 15+ yrs of playing that I haven't smashed or sold.

Whoops, didn't make the 2 band vs. 3 band connection, because that bass was off Ebay at the time of my posting. Its back now, though.

Either way, kudos on what must be (whether "less than 50" were made or not) an uncommon and very cool finish. Even cooler that you are the original owner. I'm a big fan of the rarer finishes, especially transparent and sparkle finishes. It seems like the finishes I like the most don't sell well enough to stay around long, but I guess that makes the hunt more rewarding. Haven't been able to jump on anything lately, though. My Black Magic Crystal Stingray cleaned me out for a while.

Logan Green is not what you have in the photos, though - Logan Green can be seen most clearly on Dargin's avatar or my Logan Green Flame Bongo. What you've go there is Kermit, and I forget the real name of that green.

I'll keep looking and let you know what I find and help yourself to my photos and let me know if you need anything else.

To my knowledge, I think thats proprietary information that they don't give out. I've seen similar questions asked.

But who knows, somebody who knows more what they are talking about will probably answer one way or the other.

By the way, is this the bass that was just recently on Ebay? If so, nice job. (although I'm not sure how the seller knew that less than 50 were made).

I just picked up a Singray5-H from Guitar Center, that is India Ivory, with a maple neck and gold hardware. I saw it online and when I couldnt find that color listed anywhere, I called GC and they said theyd call me back and when they did, they said they called EB and was told there was 24 of them made with the maple neck and gold hardware. But when I tried to verify what the "salesman" told me thru EB, they told me they dont give out production numbers. I dont know why they wont give you numbers for YOUR bass, but thats the deal. In any case its a sweet bass, so I grabbed it.

Keep in mind that every bass is SOMEONE'S bass. The salesman probably contacted the GC buyer and found out how many that GC purchased from EBMM.

He said he called the EB directly. Not a big deal. I was going to grab it anyhow, just was curious since the color isnt listed anywhere, and it would be cool to know.

Last weekend I bought a 2000 SR4 in Purple pearl with vintage white pearloid guard , I read around the net somewhere that it was a low production finish,but like others that have asked EB does not release those numbers. I'll just keep wondering

Anyone know what finish this is? It's supposedly a 2010 Tobacco Burst, even though the guy thinks its a Vintage Sunburst? It seems like it has the brown edge of a Retroburst, but the color of a Tobacco. HELP! I have been trying to decide on what finish to get, and I know that Tobacco is now discontinued.

Looks like Tobacco to me.

It's also a Classic series SR4...Tobacco has Black pickguards. Retroburst (Sunburst) has White.

If you have the serial number Customer Service will be able to tell you for sure.

Yeah, I knew it was a Classic, but it was just mind boggling that the guy said it was Vintage Sunburst, which is not even a classic color. I was worried for a minute he actually got an early Retroburst and threw a black pickguard on it, since that is such a classy look!

I found a few other that had great pics and came to the conclusion that it is a Tobacco, but the contrast and brightness settings on the camera used were a little high.

Tangerine Pearl. Like so many MM finishes, it's hard to photograph well. The image without the pickguard is closest to what it really looks like (at least on my screen). For comparison, that's a Desert Gold Bongo next to it.

Mystic Dream is indeed a color shifting finish. Dark Purple to Dark Green. It is unfortunately only available on the Petruccis. I would love to have a Big AL in that finish.
