Bernard and Louis are a given to me, but I must add;

Tony Wall from the band King, Cutlass/ray/sterling, the two albums they did are stocked with some mighty fine bass playing, featuring finger style, slap and pick playing, the way it should be, embrace all methods.

Nick Beggs, the guy is CRAZY good, nuff said.

Cass Lewis, that dude and a Cutlass can seriously rock!

Well, I see most of my fav's have already been named. There's a couple I can add:

Brian Ritchie - Violent Femmes (when he plays an Earthwood)
Cheryl Crow - when she plays a Stingray

1984, sky channel, pat sharp, music videos and that amazing animation of peter gabriel..

none of which compares to the sound and groove tony levin puts down on sledgehammer.
to me that was a defining moment. i cry when i think about how much money i spent on other basses trying to get them to sound like the real deal ;)
